Harpoon's Backend Just Got a Major Upgrade: Now Running on Laravel 13
We've completed a major upgrade to Harpoon's backend. The entire application now runs on Laravel 13, the latest version of the framework that powers everything behind the scenes.
If you're not a developer, here's what that means: Harpoon is faster, more secure, and built to ship what's next more quickly.
Why We Upgraded
Laravel is the foundation of Harpoon, everything from invoicing and time tracking to the API and MCP integration runs on it. When that foundation improves, the entire product gets better.
Instead of layering on incremental patches, we upgraded the whole stack. That means every part of Harpoon benefits from better performance, stronger security, and more modern tooling.
What This Means for You
You don't need to do anything, the upgrade is already live. Here's what you'll notice:
Faster response times. Pages load quicker, API calls return faster, and background tasks, like invoices and reports, finish sooner.
Stronger security. Updated encryption, improved session handling, and more robust authentication help protect your data without any changes on your end.
Greater reliability. Better queue handling and error management mean fewer hiccups during busy moments, and smoother performance when it matters most.
What Didn't Change
Everything you rely on, your data, workflows, integrations, stays exactly the same.
If you've connected Harpoon to an AI assistant via MCP, it continues to work as expected. API tokens, webhooks, and third-party integrations are all unaffected.
This was a behind-the-scenes upgrade. Same product, much stronger engine.
