Harpoon

New Feature: Timer Syncing

We're extremely excited to add Timer Syncing to Harpoon's time-tracking system! Here's the scoop...

Previously when creating time-tracking timers in Harpoon, you had the ability to work with a completely unique set of timers in the various locations your account was active. For example, you could work with a set of timers on your laptop, and simultaneously have a completely different set of timers running on your iPad.

There were definitely pros and cons to this "unsynced" approach, and we know some of our customers have developed unique workflows based on this behavior.

BUT over time we've become convinced that any benefits of this unsynced behavior are outweighed by the advantages of syncing your timers across browsers and devices. And based on the many conversations we've had with our user base, the majority of you seem to agree.

How does timer syncing work? It's simple, and happens automatically. When you create a timer in Harpoon, you'll see that same timer appear in all of the locations where that same user account is active. And any edits you make to that timer will be applied everywhere.

For example, if you create and start a timer on your laptop you can pause and log that same timer using your phone. Or if you edit the Description of a timer while using Harpoon's Mac timers app, that same edit will be applied to the same timer on your iPad (and everywhere else).

In other words, all timer activity syncs in all locations.

We're always open to feedback so be sure to reach out with your thoughts! Thanks!
